Also known as Lily of The Nile, originating in South Africa.
It flowers prolifically in New Zealand and is another of those beauties which has been classed as an 'invasive species' although it is prized as a garden gem the northern hemisphere.
It is a free seeder and colonizes easily in coastal and roadside areas, making gorgeous displays. It was introduced into NZ in the mid 1800's and has thrived ever since.
Plants come in two colours - the beautiful and more common blue and a white variety. I have the white one in my garden but I do prefer the blue :)
Taken with Canon 450D. Thank you for looking - and Happy Ffriday everyone !
