A gathering of Spotted Shags and Otago Shags that roost and nest on this historic wharf since they claimed ownership when it was closed to the public for safety reasons. There is talk of it being restored but hopefully the rights of the birds will be respected as well. You may also be able to see the small stones that cover the wharf. The birds swallow them for bouyancy control.This was taken on Easter day with Panasonic TZ60.
