A whole crop of these teensy weensy little mushrooms appeared in a corner of our garden this morning. There had been a hard frost so it was surprising they survived. I do not know what they are. The caps are less than one inch across. I captured these late afternoon just before the lawnmower decapitated them. Taken with Canon 450D 60mm macro lens with the photographer stretched out on freezing damp ground, looking rather ridiculous!

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

I have toppled over once or twice while getting up after taking a photo sitting on my haunches but I have never lain flat out to take a photo yet. These mushrooms come up suddenly due to the sudden change in weather probably.

Was there any wood buried in that corner of the garden, Lyn? Or possibly an old root from a tree that was removed from near there or a dead tree? Old wood is often the source of some mushrooms. These look like Hedgehog or possibly Shiitake.

By the way, the only photographer that ever looks ridiculous is the one shooting with the lens cover still on. I know. I've done it! ( or, rather, tried to do it.)

Happy Trails

I can't agree with that, Lyn! The best photographs are taken in 'strange' positions, ☺ .

Good one!
