High seas at the weekend send many of our New Zealand Fur Seals (Kekeno) to seek shelter on land. I don't know how this one got on to this ledge - the distance down to the rocks is about 2 metres although it looks closer in the photo. Each time it flapped it's flipper I feared it would fall off. The reddish brown colour of its fur is natural - it was not injured.

I'm not sure how this seal got up on that rock, unless he rode a high surf when the tide came in! Good find and capture.

Good thing you didn't spook him. He might have... fallen out of bed!

What a well spotted take, and so different, hopefully it did not get injured from being in such a position. tigs=^..^=

Those rocks below have some sharp edges. The poor seal can get hurt trying to get down. An unusual and good find and capture Lyn.

Looks like it is putting its seal of approval on the rocks, LE.
It blends in so well.

Fabulous photograph and what a smart kekeno! It picked a spot to rest that would provide it with absolute security from predators and other pesky seals.

Amazing image, Lyn!

Lyn, think that Thad is right with his comment.
Hope that it can return to the sea safely.
