I have posted photos of this white Muscovy duck before. Usually when I visit the little lake at the gardens it is with it's smaller friend, the Black Muscovy. They were always conspicuous being the only two plain ones amongst the numerous Canada Geese and Mallard ducks. This time sadly, it was alone. It just stood there on its great big feet looking across the water at the swimming birds and did not venture in. There was no sign of its little black friend at all. It looked sad and it made me sad too :(

Hard to say what happened to it's friend, your capture here really evokes the title. Very good post Lyn, but now I'm kind of sad too. I hope it meets up with a new friend. tigs=^..^=

What a pity! Hope this one will slowly recover from the shock. I don't think the mallards will accept him/her. Nice capture though Lyn.

Bob is a man full of humor, Lyn, ☺ .
Of course I know that his comment above is an attempt to tease you somewhat.

Have to a certain extent some pity with this 'loner' as well.
Wish for it that there was a Duck dating site. Paying a visit there could offer a solution for its loneliness.

Seen and capture very well.

I'm not seeing anything plain about the duck, Lyn, the snowy white feathers just as attractive as the Canadians. What is also catching my eye are those terrific reflections of the grasses in the water, slightly distorted by the angle and waving water.
