Wow, it's even bigger and taller than I'd imagined. It must be rather thick to be able to stand like this. For those uninitiated in construction methods, those iron bars "drooping" out of those holes are for "weeping". A view of a poured concrete wall will often show small pieces of iron poking out at intervals; that's the remnants of form spacers from when the 'crete was poured. Here, you'll notice that the holes the iron bars emerge from are exactly the same; there must be channels inside the wall to control rainwater flow. These drooping pieces of iron make sure excess rainwater doesn't settle inside the wall, instead following a determined path through and out of the wall and down the iron, dropping away from the wall. I'd never seen it done quite this way before. In this case, Lyn, you're a historical photographer!
