It looks like the flower is spreading arms out to grab the bee when it least expects it... did you happen to hear a crunching sound right after your shutter clicked?

A very lovely shot LynEve, but happy might be a stretch. Busy and territorial, yes. I've watched them try to butt each other off of flowers in a sea of flowers. They just don't seem to play as well with each other as the smaller honeybees. And I haven't found bumblebees nearly as intimidating to approach as female carpenter bees. The males are bumblebee-sized and aggressive, but stingless. The females though, are very dark and huge, but not known to be aggressive. They can inflict a very painful sting though, so it's best not to get on their bad side.
