It appears to have one foot on the grass and the other on the sand but the sand is actually approx 40 feet down a bank (possibly more) I was nervous being this close to the edge!
This is a Tarapunga, a Red Billed Gull which is native to New Zealand and is now classed as an endangered species. There seem to be millions of them about but what do I know !They are smaller than some other types and live for up to 30 years.

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

Tell the statues these are almost extinct LE. They might even answer you. It appears to be attempting to walk a straight line.
Great shot.

Except for the red beak it looks like any other gull. Nice shot of the gull. You could walk like that only if you had your wings Lyn. But you must have left them at home I suppose.

Exquisite scene for a photograph. Amazing how the colors of the gull stand out against the beach, details are impressive. Caught at just the right time.

Fantastic shot! I love that you caught him mid-strut. It make him seem more alive, more truly revealed, and just a tiny bit comical in that waddling way that gulls walk.

And for godsakes, woman, could you have done better at capturing a natural frame for your subject than the nearly perfect (and totally beautiful) triangle of land, stone, and sea in your image?! Amazing!!

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
