Looking towards to Lagoon what is part of the Hilton Hawaiian Village and is free for anyone to use.
The building in the centre was where we had our condo (we were on the other side of the middle tower overlooking the yacht harbour). It is the Ilikai building built in 1964, the the first luxury high rise hotel in Hawaii. It gained some fame by appearing in the opening sequence of the original Hawaii Five-O TV series with the camera zooming in on Jack Lord standing on the penthouse balcony.

This lagoon must be popular with those folks who don't feel comfortable at the beach... no surf, no rip tide, no critters. While body surfing back in the early 70's, in the surf of the beach at Oxnard, California, I jumped too late one time and the wave crest hit me in the shoulders. All I could see was millions of tiny bubbles as I pinwheeled, arms above my head, and I remember my hands sliding through sand... the only way I could tell I was upside down. No danger of that happening here.
