A good one of the "Captain" with clear details and a nice green background provided my the palm leaves. He should be sitting on the captain's shoulder :)
It looks like Captain Al is about to share some of life's secrets with you, Lyn. The lighting challenges in photographing these birds are great - they like the shadows of the canopy of trees, with bright lighting beyond. You tamed the lighting quite nicely here.
Referring to Raj's comment above, think however that Al isn't a suitable candidate sitting on Raj's or mine shoulders. Not because Al wouldn't have the specific properties, but simply because Raj and I weren't pirate captains, ☺ . Wonderful one again, Lyn!

I'm only guessing his breed is a macaw? If so, they are very intelligent birds, "considered to be among the most intelligent of all birds and also one of the most affectionate--it is believed they are sensitive to human emotions", according to a study of parrots at Texas A&M University. Many parrots have near-human lifespans, and larger species like macaws and cockatoos are known to live for between 35 and 50 years. The current oldest parrot is 82-year-old Cookie, a Major Mitchell's cockatoo (Lophochroa leadbeateri) that lives at the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago. Al here is a very handsome fellow and it appears he knew exactly what you were doing.

Without being a parrot expert, I would say this is an Amazonian parrot, one of the most expensive parrot variety's. I went to a plant nursery, and the owner had one these, and I tried talking with it and it ignored me until I was just out of earshot, and it started talking. I went back up to it, and it looked at me with this "what's your problem, I didn't say anything!" this went on for a few times until I realised he was playing with me.
