We were fortunate to be in Honolulu at the time of its 24th Annual Festival which is held to promote Hawaii and Japan's call for peace while celebrating cultural exchanges.The theme this year was "Harmony over the Ocean, Journey to Peace" and a massive fireworks display marked the end of the festival, representing the pursuit of friendship and peace.
Sitting on the warm sand of Waikiki beach watching the fireworks, I took a few photos, but not many as I just wanted to enjoy as much of the wonderful display as possible. It lasted almost half an hour.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
It's pretty hard to achieve a good fireworks capture, Lyn, because the nightly environment requires a relatively long shutter opening time while the dynamic character of the fireworks requires a relatively short shutter opening time. Seems to be a contradiction, but with the by you chosen compromise, you've achieved the best possible result. Very well done!
