I don't remember that car, but it must have been quite impressive in its day. Nice capture.

Lyn, Carol says above: "It must have been quite impressive in its day."
Like to add that its still impressive nowadays. Love in particular the design of its rear view mirrors.
Good one!

Nice take of this old timer - It must have been a gas guzzler!

Your car series has reminded me of how much I have loved cars throughout my life. I miss the distinctive look between the car brands they had back then. Back in the fifties when traveling in the unbuckled backseat of my dad's car, on the long weekend drive from Bellefontaine to Columbus, my sisters and I would count the Fords, Chevys, Pontiacs, Olds, and Mercs we would see and the game would be to see which line of cars had the most cars on the road. Sometimes dad would stop at the A&W in Marysville, the midway point, and get us a footlong hot dog and a small root beer. Dad and mom would get a large root beer. I loved root beer and longed for the day that I too could have a large one in that big A&W mug.

I agree with John that styles were so much more distinctive 60, 70 and even 80 years ago. As a youngster, whenever my dad came to visit I would first run outside to see what kind of car he had that day. As a public accountant he made an incredible $15 per hour (today you can get that for asking if you want fries, too), and so could indulge in one of his favorite pursuits--finding the perfect car. Until he learned to lock the doors, when he would get back in the car to leave, he'd find that I'd climbed in and played with every button. Windshield wipers flapping, blinker flashing, music so loud it nearly took off his head... obviously I enjoyed those cars, too. I notice that a small portion of the roof is still attached to this Zephyr's windshield when the top goes down. Even though my father had several convertibles back then, I don't recall seeing one like this. Incidentally, he did finally find his perfect car... a Buick.
