This was the church of Oradour-sur-Glane in France. On 10 June 1944 ,women (247) and children (205) were driven into this church. Here, they heard the firing as their men (190) were shot. Then they were murdered in a fire that raced through the church. They never rebuilt Oradour. Its ruins are a memorial.

It is a hard, harsh picture to see, and yet if you watch it for a bit, a sense of comfort is also found. He that suffers with us was there and is still there. Thank you.

You managed to convey the spirit of this memorial with your shot. The coloring of the flowers brings us up to date and with the B&W, the history is ever present.

The cariage of the baby car says it all, what a sad sad story indeed. Hope that you will continue posting more from this village.

Hubert, this image makes me sad and silence. As I said before, this image is a 'memorial document' as well. regards, Cornelius

A touching memorial to all the innocent folks that died in this church. I like how the colorful flowers standout against the greyness of this sad place. Thanks Hubert, for giving us the history of this fateful day~
