One of the most important castles in the region of Aalst was the castle of Overhamme. The walled castle - with drawbridge - was rebuilt by Gerard de Bosch in the 16th century , but in 1948 it was demolished. Only a few outbuildings of the old castle still remained integrated in the newly built residential area.(I decided to replace this picture since I was not happy with the result of the previous,so it's possible you have seen this image before. I have made some little corrections) Aalst-East Flanders-Belgium.

Can't remember that I've seen a previous version of this image before Hubert.
Suppose it's a pretty long time ago that it was posted.

It's a pity that the castle was demolished. What remained is a beautiful area. Must be wonderful to make a stroll there in a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere. You have visualized this pretty scenery very well.

Regards, Cornelius.
