This cat has been a resident of Boykin, SC for the last 16+ years! He took up at a tiny shop ran by a nice lady who makes brooms the old fashioned way(I am sure one of the very few in existence)He was always shy and would never let her get close yet she still fed him daily! Then one day she came to the shop to see the cat had been mauled by what must have been a large dog, she rushed him to the vet, detached left ear and all where the vets said put him down, only 5% chance of survival but she disagreed and now he lets her pet him! Canon 60D 70-200is f2.8

What a interesting story, and I'm glad he survived the ordeal, and the surgery. He sure is a rough looking feline, and has lots of character. Now he is getting some loving on his terms, so feline like! :) Good for the shop owner to care for him. They are both getting rewarded finally.

It is a lovely portrait of a very characterful cat - the poor poor thing having such a traumatic event but how wonderful he was cared for.
I love the portrait and the story behind it. I hope he lives the rest of his life enjoying being petted.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

What a cool tale ... within the magnitude of the image and the story of the telling.

Wonderful, Cal!

This is what I love about photography. You can sense the emotion in this scene, it came through perfectly. It is so very strong. Your timing was perfect, bravo.
