The area in Istanbul between the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia is very congenial, lawns and fountains, coffee shops and stalls. A lovely experience.
Mikel, I was there in 1969, stationed at Karamursel. A number of times, we would take the ferry from Yalova and make our way to Istanbul. Back then, there was a cafe down the hill from the St Sophia and the Blue Mosque where we would order fried lamb and potatoes. You captured this site very well.
