While photographing a large group of geese, landing on lake ice, I took a break to capture this view of a dead tree branch, seemingly frozen in a struggle against the confines of winter. I was struck by the subtle shapes of the water as it froze in a curving line against the branches and shallows, and the smooth gradation of blues and whites. It may likely not get many comments, like my two previous goose photos, but it's one of my personal favorites, so descriptive of winter in my native North Dakota. 12.20-8 Currently it is one of only three photos I have printed large and framed, creating a triptych of our travel images on my dining room wall. 8

I can see why you like it Knik. I like my embraces just a bit warmer., but this one suits the scene.

I love this type of photo - an image frozen in time that will never ever be seen again in reality. It caught my eye immediately and I like it heaps !

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

The simple composition that don't catch the eye, are sometimes more interesting that those that do.

At the moment I'm printing my 72mb TIFF copy of this one as an 11" x 17", to frame and hang in my home. Something I haven't done very often.... It's a number of hours later (we're currently in Pierre, SD, to visit my sister and see this year's Christmas display of trees in the capitol building--a truly amazing celebration they have here--you'll be seeing some photos of it next week) and I have to say, printing this one at 11" x 17" and framing it in a plain 1-1/2" wide
black frame was the right choice... wow, am I happy with it!

This photo is stunning for many reasons, the idea to take this scene, the clarity, color, textures, light and composition are grand. This is complimented by your writing skills, you have a gift with this as well, which makes this even more enjoyable. Favorite.

Ahhhh ... You saved the best for last. THIS is my favorite!

What an incredibly beautiful image, full of life, color, renewal, and motion all frozen in place by Winter's mastery (and you).

The reflected sky, the cool, soulful blue-gray of winter hues, and the power to freeze water as it moved around the bones of a resilient old bathing tree all make for an amazing photograph, through your eyes.
