My first, very own Apophysis image. took nearly 10 hours to render (probably because my computer is SLOW). luckily i finished in the evening so i left it to render over night. let me know what you think! heres the stats on my image and computer: RAM: ~400MB; render size: 1600x1200; quality: 2000 filter radius: .4; oversample: 2 (i think); zoom: normal programs; i used: Apophysis 2.0

update: i have uploaded a new version of this image. See it Here.

It is simple, but it works well. And the render looks great, no grain at all.

First off .. It's difficult to critique somebody's first apophysis image .. you're all thrilled with the first thing that you see

Why don't you take a few moments to tell us what programs you have (photoshop, etc) and what your level of experience is with them

and

Why don't you tell us what your render settings were that made this 10 hours

your computer speed and ram
your render SIZE
your Quality, filter radius, and oversample

and ... how much you ZOOMED in

we can provide better guidance with this info

Well according to the stats you sent me:

computer: RAM: ~400MB;
render size: 1600x1200;
quality: 2000
filter radius: .4
oversample: 2 (i think)
zoom: normal

Apophysis 2.0

I don't really understand the time factor ... take a look at the image with a white background .. there might be a lot of activity there that is hidden in the BLACK .. but it still shouldn't make it ten hours

Wicked Sick is the first image I posted to Caedes back in October 04 .. while, I'm not so enthused with it anymore .. I was happy with it at the time .... Notice that the white background shows off a lot more detail than a black background (which I never posted, sorry)

well, i kinda guessed the ten hour thing. at first i thought that it only took 4 hours (which i found was only the first step) after that 4 hours, the timer said about 340 mins (340mins = almost 6 hours.) but i dont know for sure. ill be sure to check it out with a white background. i believe that there could be hidden stuff. thanks for all these wonderful comments people.

I love how original this flame is. In fact, it doesn't even appear to be Apophysis work. As you might guess, I have a few small qualms about the rendering settings you used. If you have been saving .flame files, email me this one and my processing power is at your command. I know my tutorial is a bit long, but it is probably worth reading through at some point. Just paste it into Word and print it 4 sheets to a page. Next time you are bored, pull it out of your pocket and begin reading. :-)
