The UK's recent heatwave created tinder-box dry conditions in much of the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorks Moors and visitor-access to some areas of moorland was restricted to prevent the risk of fire. This image is of SheepWash, a natural stream near the village of Osmotherly where centuries ago it was used to wash the sheep after they'd been shorn in spring. The image is a verdant reminder of how the gorse- and bracken-covered moorlands will look again when the rains come and the land recovers from draught conditions.
It evokes all my yearnings to wander over the moors at leisure some time before I die. (I've done it once, for a couple of hours only, and that taste of the moors has kindled an appetite for more inimate acquaintance.)
You obviously got to do it! And you found a picturesque spot to share with us, too; thank you.
