...those who lost their lives at the Grand 16 in Lafayette, LA. Sometimes things hit a little closer to home than one would like. For those of you who reside stateside, you probably know all about this. For those of you who are overseas-last night another theater shooting took place. It just happened to be the one that I go to if I want to see a movie. Thank heavens I had chosen to go in the opposite direction, to another city west of me to have a steak dinner instead of going to a movie. We are all in a state of shock in my geographical area. Lafayette is a city of some size but not huge. We never thought something like this would happen here. Cajun country is southern hospitality on steroids. Strangers are greeted around here with a friendly smile in passing. You might leave your house to go shopping and come back to find a bag of fresh garden tomatoes on your doorstep. I came here from Ohio over 40 years ago. I stayed and never plan on leaving. The people and the culture won me over. The shooter was a drifter from Alabama who suddenly stood up during a movie showing and began shooting. He blasted the two people sitting in front of him and then began firing at anybody else he could get his sights on-two dead and nine injured. Then he shot himself. Why did he come here, to little ole friendly Cajun land? We may never know. Love and sympathy to those who perished.

I heard about this not long after it happened. Another senseless act of violence in a long string of events that have happened all to frequently. With a diminishing respect for God in this country, it is bound to continue. I could go on for hours about that, but I will not. I get too infuriated just thinking about it. ...Pray for the families of the victims. ...Beautiful foofy posting as a memorial, Pat.

It was a senseless and cruel act by a mad man who killed people without any reason whatsoever. Another totally inexplicable mad killing was in the church in Charleston. The strong lobby against restrictions in buying and carrying guns is partly responsible too. Nice flower in memory of those innocent people who lost their lives at the hands of a mad idiot.

Pat, First of all, I'm so glad you did not go there that night. Someone was on your side that night, thank goodness. This is heartfelt image, simple with lots of emotion behind it. I agree with Jim, I could go on and on about the loss of respect to god, and other things, but this is not the place for that. So glad your safe, and this is a thoughtful memorial. My respect, and thoughts go out to the families who were involved in this terrible event. tigs=^..^=

Pat I was worried about you when I heard the news. I'm glad you're safe and mourn with you over the lost of those innocent victims. This world is getting more violent everyday and we must now watch our backs when we go out. Thanks for the tribute it's a lovely rose. Prayers for the good people of Lafayette as they recover from this tragic loss of family and friends.

lovely rose in memory.
I had heard about the tragedy. I am grateful you are safe and as for the families and friends of the lost ones - who could ever recover from such senseless loss. Your area will be in shock and despair. You take care my friend.
I agree with the sentiments above.
I can never agree with the thought that guns don't kill, people do. Without the firearms they would not do so so easily and evilly.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

OMG, yes I heard all about this on the news, some people are totally CRAZY in the head. This is a gorgeous rose in colour to pay tribute to those who didn't survive the disaster & well wishes to the one who did.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all down there in LA.
