The horse has been led up to the harness and wagon trailer where his harness is being removed and will be carried through that side door by the handlers. Several professional handlers accompany each team. Often, one handler has night duty to provide round-the-clock care for the horses. The entry-level position is a traveling position, and it's traveling on one of the three teams there use to be five) around the U.S.; West Coast, East Coast or St. Louis. A new hire can plan on traveling about 300 days a year. When you do come home, your schedule is driven around the horses. You get a very limited opportunity to get home and do the things that a 9-to-5 job can afford you.

They sure have to be horse lovers, and the money they have invested in these teams, has to be over the top. My guess that might be one reason they cut back on the amount of teams. I wonder what the handlers earn for all of the hard work, and time away from home? Pat, your series is fantastic, thank you. tigs=^..^=

Here I can see how tall the horse is. One has to really like this job to do it all your working life. But for horse lovers it is ideal.

Momma, this could be seamen, but not the sailing kind but the shore based kind, lol.

Very good continuation of this great series, Pat.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Wow, they sure have a hard life and have to absolutely love horses and don't mind being away from family. This series is Fabulous and loving everyone of your images and the information is outstanding. That hardness leather looks really heavy by itself judging on just the thickness of the lines
