These flaming flowers were so very beautifully settled in between thorns and cactus. It was impossible for anyone but my zoom lens to come close. I like the result so here they are at Ceades.
Does anyone know there name?
Very interesting picture, the colors of those flowers look almost a bit surreal as the stand out against the fade-out looking background. The main subject comes very crisp and clear, natural looking colors and a good balance of lighting and contrast. Your zoom lense was worth the money, thumbs up !!!
Very nice detail Paul. Thank you for the first look at the flower of Aloe Vera. At first I thought Red Hot Poker but the upright position of the flowers and the unmistakable aloe leaves sent me on a google search. Thanks for posting:-)
Where was this picture taken? Here in South Africa we call them "Aalwyne (Afrikaans)" or Aloe (English). There are a variety of sub species. These ones look like the Aloe ferox plant.
It has a very bitter taste if you use the sap contained in the leaves... excellent remedy for nail biters ;) They also have other medicinal properties and are quite often used in folk remedies.
Hello Paul...I have taken some photos of these also..we have them here in ORegon, but the ones I have are all in bright yellow..I think they do belong to the Red Hot Poker family..but not sure of their name..sure glad you got that zoom..to do the "dirty work" for ya my friend!! Wouldnt wanna mess up those artists hands....its a gorgeous photo..Ive never seen these in these flaming shades of colour..you captured them wonderfully. And to see them between the aloe plant is even better. The contrasts and textures are magnificient!! Verena
Wow that’s super sharp Paul. Love the colours and detail. The sap from the leaves of this plant is better for sunburn than anything the doctor can give you.
Hi there Paul! Another crack shot of yours for me to drool over...lol. The leaves are clearly the aloe leaves. I wasn't aware that aloe blooms, so I have just learned something new! The detail and color and clarity here are super good adn I love the way the flower goes from yellow to oranish to red. This is quite good and I have downloaded it into my favorite's folder on my harddrive. I am also going to run it in my screensaver slideshow! Thanks for using the zoom to capture this beauty for us! ~:)
How lovely it is when unexpected blessings come into my life to cheer me up and put a smile into my heart. Help me to pass them on, dear Lord. Fay Angus
Thanks to all who comment on pictures in my gallery. Please accept my apologies if I am unable to thank you each time, and please don't feel obligated to thank me for my comments.
There are many photos I see on Caedes that look much better as thumbnails than they do in full view. This one isn't one of them. Most of the elements in the photo, except the distant images, are so crisp they almost look carved. Beautiful job.
