Since there are so many of you who like to see windmills, I post another photo. These two are actually to left left of the one I posted yesterday, so indeed there are three in a row. Can you believe this: a hundred year ago these mill on "higher ground" worked together with at least 6 other mills on "low ground" to mill dry the very place I live in today! Knowing this I always look at them with great respect. They can still operate, even today and are open the the public on some national windmill days. Another mill, situated about a mile further at this very dike is still used to mill grain, buckweet and so on. And I still go there sometines to get some flour for our bread machine, because nothing beats the taste of fresh, warm home baked bread!

Nice windmills. I love the colors.

The only time I have seen a real windmill was in Aruba. They had imported on there from Holland.

Every morning I will rest my arms a while upon the windowsill of heaven, gaze upon God, and with that vision in my heart turn strong to meet my day.

I would like an education on why those "paddles" are constructed the way they are. I think Holland is the only place where I see that and there must be a good reason they are made that way. Boy oh boy did you ever catch the setting sun doing a paint job on the tree limbs and the side of the mill house. This is indeed a captivating composition. Great work, Paul.

Your silhouettes are beautiful Paul as well as the lighting that you captured! The mill house looks red/gold in the setting sun. Thank you also for the history that you gave us.....it sounds like something really fun to go get your flour fresh and make your bread. Now that is real home cooking! Delightful image. Windmills are very fascinating structures to me. Thank you for posting this :~)

Oh Paul....how beautiful! I love the softness of this image. The colours you captured are just fantastic. And silhouetting these mills makes them even lovelier. Thank you also for telling a bit about them, that makes it so much nicer and more personal and of course much more interesting. Thank you for posting one of my favorite things...when you bake the bread, call me, and I'll be right on over...be sure and slather it with lots of sweet butter!!...yum...Verena

Hi Paul, this is simply lovely! Your perspective here is perfect! Your heavenly, dimly lit setting is awesome, so very attractive indeed! You have shared with us a touch and an endearing part of Holland history! The windmill has always been indigenous to your part of the world, and has been looked upon by many as an interesting and intriging subject! You are a great light reader my friend! As Nathan said above, this photo is as 'beautiful as a painting'! Sincerely, Marilyn
