Windmills at work in Schermerhorn, North Holland. This is a photo with a double exposure, one for the sky and one for the rest of the photo. I have had some discussions with members about using double exposures to deal with the high contrast that sometimes ruin a photo. For those of you who care: I shot this photo with a new lens, the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f-2.8 ISM USM.

Mooie plaat Paul! Double exposures: you mean you take the same picture, with two different exposuretimes, and then merge them in Photoshop?

Excellent! If double exposure is what makes the sky not look awfully bland white, then I hope more people use it!!! ^_^ Thanks for sharing!!

Greatly impressed I am - but no idea about exposure ... and double ?!
This is quite a double mystery for me LOL
Great image without any doubts though ...

Nice image, Paul. I do think there is a dark filter-like affect to the entire shot. I kept wanting a bit more light in the area of the windmill. Nice technique with new equipment. I look forward to more shots as you get comfortable with it's abilities.

It’s come out quite well Paul. However I think the mills need to be a touch lighter, I am straining my eye to see some detail in them. As always the composition is faultless and the subject matter is fascinating.

You have an excellent eye for beauty. I am a fan! Today when I was looking through the photos from the site that I use for desktop wallpaper, I realized that a lot of them were by the same artist! Then I knew it was time to seek out more treasures.
