Ok, here is the secret for making a shot like this. Wait for rain and spot a bee in a flower. It will probable sleep, or better, hibernate. Set up your tripod, set the highest aperature on your camera and fix the flower, so it won't move. And then wait for the sun to come out... The bee will wake up sooner or later and start moving, but very very slow. And that is exactly what we need for a good macro, right?

It looks like he's rubbing the sleep out of his eye, how cute. This really is an amazing capture. It looks like you had the bee go into Olan Mills (or some other pricey photo studio) for a staged portrait. LOL Nice work!

Splendid macro of the bumblebee, you can see that his legs has grabs. He is not yet on path, because its small pocket is on behind his leg are
empty. Shining!

As a big fan of macrophotography and of shooting bees in particular, I want to say this is a very well done picture. I've shot bees on exactly the same type of flower and they're nearly ideal because of the amount of time the bees spend grazing on them. I own numerous tripods, but don't use them for close-up work because I like to wander a lot. I do use a pistol grip in its place though and it's most helpful. Your lighting and composition here are exceptional and really enhance the personality of your bee model.

Another beauty Paul with outstanding clarity on the Bee, the color balance looks real nice too not to mention the composition, another fine piece of work.
