Another one in my little series. Here is the shooting information: Mode: Manual exposure Tv(shutter speed): 1/200 Av(Aperature value): 32 ISO speed: 200 Focal length: 60mm White balance: flash The technique to do this? Combine full sunlight with a very close flash (distance between the flash and the bug was about 8 inches). The sun hood has to be taken of the lens, for it will block the flash at such a close range! The trick is of course to determine the manual settings before you approach the subject. So just photograph a dummy and store the settings under the manual mode selector of your camera, so that when you see a change you can retrieve the settings in manual mode and you are ready to shoot without thinking! Try it yourself, it really works.

Dear Paul, I just downloaded "Monsters part V", I think. Anyway, it's a shot of a bee, and no less spectacular than its predecessors. The technical info you provided was most appreciated, and I'm sure many others are grateful as well. My cameras unfortunately will not stop down to f/32, but I think I'll try it anyway calculating for the variables. Thanks, Neil
