Very nice post with great lighting and depth. The architecture is magnificant and you've presented it that way as well. Thanks for sharing this one.

This is what you do when you visit such a beautiful place... think about the people who first built this, and how they lived...
Beautiful abbey, beautiful capture.

I completely understand and agree with your obvious goal of showing us the essence (the ancient spirituality) of this place. As a desktop, I found it a bit frustrating. I was intensely interested in the staggered arches on the left and bored with the grey walls on the right. I hope you took and will publish another pic concentrating on those arches.

It looks like it could be straight out of Harry Potter! That might be a childish thing to say, but I love those books, so I really like this photo. Great job!

I often dream about things that don't exist. And in those dreams, I'm often taking photographs that I plan to put on Caedes... and when I wake up... I'm disappointed because it wasn't real.

I used to inwardly criticize how much was spent on Christian buildings such as this, thinking "That money could have gone to the poor". One day, something dawned on me. *I* was doing nothing for the poor. Then, I saw places like this differently. I saw the love and time that the artisans put into their work, all to create something that would bring awe to people. Whether you believe in God or not, places like this do leave you with a sense of awe. And so folks would come to see them. And those folks would then stay, and maybe attend. And then maybe also donate, or help out somehow. So, really, places like this did an amazing thing for the poor, just by being so awesome that folks would walk for miles to see them. I'm so glad they spent so much time and money to build like this. I only wish places like these were STILL being erected...... Anyway, this is a wonderful capture, Paul, as are the other two I've seen so far. Thank you sooo much for bringing your talents to bear, so that we could enjoy it from afar! Quiet
