I found these windows in Blois, France. The three windows are part of a small chapel in the castle. The photo is not edited in any way, this is how you will find it, if you ever decided to visit blois.
How lovely it is when unexpected blessings come into my life to cheer me up and put a smile into my heart. Help me to pass them on, dear Lord. Fay Angus
Can't always give individual thanks but I am so appreciative of everyone's comments and input. I truly enjoy seeing all of your posts and am always happy to see you at My Gallery. Thanks, Anita
Nice to see so many appreciate the art of stained glass so much as I do myself!
Thanks for your nice comments.
To answer the question of (b)Frank: it is not too difficult to get the right exposure, that is just a matter of deliberately underexposing one or two stops. In fact, it become even easier when you shoot RAW images, then you can adjust it afterwards on the PC without quality loss.
In general, the darkness is made darker in two steps: 1 - increase the contrast of the camera a notch and 2 (more important) - shift the histograms lower left corner to right. That will affect only the darker areas which will become more dark.
But in this case those adjustments were actually not nescessary, the shot was good directly out of the camera. Actually, the only change that you might take notice of is that I adjusted the vertical perspective of the windows to get then lined up straight.
Thanks for the interest and if you please, let me kow if you would like to get more tips like this.
Regards,
Paul
This is a fantastic shot! Really! You've no idea how many times I've tried to get shots like this with nowhere near as good results. You can be justly proud of this one, imho.
Paul, this is a true piece of art in every way! I love the colors. They are so vivid and they almost appear as though they are embossed or bas relief type images. Excellent all the way around. Thank you for sharing your beauty with us. It is much appreciated :~)
My sincere apologies for not showing up on the last 12 days since I had a back injury while trekking in a jungle area. Glad to say that I have partially recovered now and able to walk again after few days in hospital.
The pictures you take that I like best are such as these. Some intimate corner of a building or place that has a rich story to it. The lighting is always powerful, and there is usually much to roam over with the eyes. This one is so beautifully framed so as to keep focus where it should be.. on the amazing skill of the artisan. I'm glad you captured it so well.. perfectly in focus and balance. Must have been breathtaking to see in real life!
Very well done. Magnificent is the word. The colors, the composition, the way you avoided capturing this at some strange angle, as most people seem to do when photographing stained glass. I LOVE stained glass!
This is nothing to do with the superb quality of your photo, but oh, MY! I had to check for the presence of halos to be sure these super-sensuous ladies were actually supposed to be saints, showing thigh and cleavage, with nipples and belly buttons visible through their clothes, and even their crotches clearly delineated by the fabrics. What was the artist thinking of? (Well, it's clear what he was thinking of, but this is allowed in a church???)
