This dike is indeed a shoreline. Behind it the waves are send out by Neptune to reclaim the land that once belonged to his kingdom. Neptune is winning, since our defences are too low. So Holland once more has to take up it's shovels and start digging to heighten up this dike we named the "Hondsbossche Zeewering".

Ditto for New Orleans. The Dutch should give pointers on how to keep wet land dry.

Yes, they could have used these kind in New Orleans for sure. The dutch have been doing this longer than anyone. Amazing in size, that's for sure.

CITIZENS of our world, check my website for a riveting, informational video that concerns all of you and the future of our globe. You will be flabbergasted, annoyed, distressed, in disbelief, but you will have been made aware of the WARNINGS. See this film. It gets better as it goes along, but will have your attention from the first quote.

Can't you just put your thumb in the hole? Beautiful shoreline shot. Love the gulls in the skyline.

This is a great shot. In Al Gores movie 'An Inconvenient Truth' the Netherlands are set to disappear in the next fifty years so I'd start digging now if I were you.

Very nice post and well captured. Very moody sky and the 'feeling' is very serene. Very well done Paul.

Interesting Paul. I can’t say that I ever saw a Dutch dyke before. What’s on the other side? Kiddies building sand castles?

Wow! I would feel very nervous if I lived near something like this! I've never been anywhere where the land is so low.
