A clock in the musee Dorsay - Paris.
A very nice clock, but also very screwed up by me.
Can you see what is wrong with this clock?
Send me a message if you see it...
I'm way behind so forgive me for not commening on your individual posts but know that I've looked at all of them since I left. I truly enjoy seeing all of your posts and am always happy to see you at My Gallery. Thanks, Anita

I have it! The photo is dated November 18, 8:01 pm but the clock shows 9:49 :o)
No really, I think you mean the IIII but that's normal for me, actually there are about as many clocks with IIII as with IV, for instance here, here, here or here :o)
btw, excellent shot!
Chris
Hm, I didn't even notice the IIII! I did notice that it looks like there is a third hand hiding behind the big hand, and if so, I was wondering what it was for since neither the weekdays, nor the calendar months are displayed around the perimeter. Perhaps I'm just seeing it wrong, then? Interesting half moon for the tip of the hour hand, and the castle tower at the top. Now I'm curious about this history, and the maker! cheers, Quiet
No, no, no, you are all wrong.
The answer is that the perspective is totally screwed up.
When you look at this photo, your point of view seems to be right in front of the clock.
But in reality the position of the camera was far to the left and below the clock.
So I hussled the photo until this result came out.
But look closely, you can see the left side of the clock, but not the right hand side.
Look at the curls, are they symmetric?
Paul
Ah, I see what you mean now. In looking at the lights that are behind the opaque glass (nearer the top of the photo) you can also see that the angle for the beam of light they shine is dramatically different between the left side of the pic and the right side. I wouldn't have guessed what you were asking, though. I thought you meant there was something wrong structurally with the clock, but now I see what you mean. (the IIII instead of IV guess that someone else posted was also kinda weird, tho!). Anyway, still a wonderful picture - the whole series is wonderful!!!!
I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is.

I wouldn't have found out about the perspective - guess I was distracted by the clock and all the details there ;-)
The number IIII instead of IV is as far as I know usual for clocks, my watch has it too...
Ahhh ... (*takes off his Sherlock Holmes disguise*) ... that's what I was going to guess, that you had warped the perspective.
That's ok ... I will be ready for the next mystery and hopefully my partner in solving mysteries, Watson, will finally get out of that favourite shop of yours too by that 'time.'
He's getting a little rounder around the middle from those delicious pastries. :oP
What a beautiful work of art. And you did it more than justice with your shot here.
p.s. May I ask if what image editing software you used? Apart from your editing skills, I am wondering if there is a good program to do so with images. I have Adobe's CS2 and am currently starting down the path of plugins.
When you get the chance, let me know. No rush obviously, just Curious, Les I am. :o)
