And indeed, all the fish must have gone by now! At the end of the Ramadan the people in Istanbul have a day of. And guess what everybody is doing then? Right, fishing from one of the main bridges that span the Golden horn and seperate it from the Bosporus. I wish I could add some of the smell of smoked mackarel to the photo, which lay a blanket over most of the city.

I wonder how they keep from getting their lines all tangled. Nice pic.

Well, in my opinion they do experience many accidents with tangled lines !!! Must be arguing with one another a lot too ...
Most interesting genre scene, Paul. Many thanks for sharing these fascinating images !

"Holy Mackerel," I hope they don't catch one of those people walking by. Another people shot and I love it. There seems to be more and more of them and I'm grateful. You can tell a lot about their surroundings by the looks on their faces. Is it as crowded in the city as it is on the bridge? Great post. Colorful.

Take me back to Constantinople,
No you can't go back to Constantinople,
Cause it's Istanbul not Constantinople,
How did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobodies business but the Turks.

I think that's the way the old song went, that I didn't even know I knew.

Eid Mubarak! That's what the celebration is called. This is quite a scene and I am so pleased that you posted it. I hope you have lots more of this amazing city to post. What I'm wondering is where you were when you took this shot.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

what a great shot lol. I do have to wonder though would it be better to swap them over, the fishermen on the lower road. I can see a few commuters a year going to the Accident and emergancy room with fishing hooks in their ears. :) I dont know what you think, but the guy with the blue rod, blue shirt ( think he is 8th from the right) looks as though he has caught a shark the way he is hanging over to reel in his catch lol.
