First of all, hope you don't mind what is to follow. Kind of an epistle from one of your photographic apostles, if you will.
When I first viewed your image here, and having read your accompanying narrative ... that provided the impetus for me to have a think.
Meaning of life.
If I look at your photo, and I did ... started to wonder about the artsy fartsy stuff. Does it convey a sense, a feeling ... some thoughts? From you, the artist ... presenting a message to us, your viewers?
Of course, it does.
However, had the thought that for me personally, the darker blue sky ... didn't quite convey the message that I would have sent out and from my own personal perspective and interpretation and possibilities that your image contains. So..
No doubt that none of us are going to side-step the circle of life. Simply put, and perhaps stating the obvious here ... we are born, we live ... and then, pass on. So..
And again, perhaps stating the obvious here ... more light on the horizon, as opposed to that of a quite beautiful darker blue sky ... to my mind and eyes, conveys just that thought or thoughts. The tree representing the passing of time, our lives lived ... and our end. The light on the horizon, that has always been there ... hope, inspiration .. perhaps, even that of a guiding light itself. If 'we' only look for it.
Then, had the thought ... was an initial one, truth be known ... B & W conversion? How would that translate as a visual message? So..
Stripped of colour, maybe ... maybe, the message is clearer? And starker?
Ok, best stop here. Before I construct yet another wall of text. So..
I hope you take the above in the spirit that is intended and my apologies in advance for having 'reworked' your photo without asking you first. (Only uploaded to my 'private' account on imageshack. Please let me know if this bothers you, and down it comes. No questions asked, of course. It is your image.)
In short (to give your eyes a rest from my verbosity) ... you've inspired me to think here. About the meaning of life and our relationships on the site here with others. Albeit, for the most part ... e-relationships.
And ... I am glad to be able to view your work. It is a pleasure, and a profound one at that at times. And I've always enjoyed alllll that you bring to the Caedesian table. So..
Thank you. :o)
Annnnd ... last, but not least ... best wishes to you and yours for the upcoming year. :o)
What a stunning looking photo, i love the curves that you captured in this shot and the lovely shading running down the trees roots.Plus i like the blue sky it brings the tree out and make you feel that you could just touch it.Well done.
AVATAR BY PJ............... i've been so bad about commenting on your photos. believe me when i say i look at them all. feel free to NOT comment on mine. Please Visit My Gallery
It might be a tad uncomfortable to sit there among all them roots, mind if I bring a cushion? I like the angle of your photo. Good clarity and details in the shot.
