That's a genuinely fascinating piece of scenery. :) I like the balance you have between foreground, the stone formation and the sky. The level of lighting is just right and those clouds add a certain mood. Honestly, those rock formations are one of the reason I'm thinking of going to the US of A some day.
Good capture of this subject matter Chris. I was in one of those storms in Utah & I couldn't get the lighting right. You seem to have a good handle on it. The rocks stand out beautifully against the stormy sky & you have also demonstrated how vast the storm is with the sky capture. Looks so good against those rocks. Well done. Into my fav's on my h/d & thank you :)
The stormy sky sets the pace for this composition, but there seems to be a substantial difference in sky color in that see thru hole in the rocks that doesn't quite match up with the rest of the sky color. The desert floor is striking, especially the sand. The brush looks perfectly natural in color. The rocks in the background are perfect. This is a very pleasant scene to look at and will make a good desktop. Well done.

The realism in this is excellent, I immediately felt I was looking at the *real thing*, no oversaturated colours, no freaky cloud filters. The restrained simplicity of the shot is what gives it power. Good contrast of spiky bush and smooth clouds. The point of view feels close to the ground - or you did something to give it that us being dwarfed feeling.
Great photo!
