The composition is very nicely balanced with Sonny Boy roughly at a "thirds" intersection point and the spread of those green fir needles in the top right kind of breaking up the snow whiteness at a nice angle as well. The colour in your dog is rich and intense, probably exactly because that's the darker part of the image. A bit of playing around with curves or levels in some software might produce a similar richness in the dog with a bit more lightness in the rest of the image. I assume this is a crop from a larger image, if so, I think you cropped it perfectly, if not you framed it perfectly "on the go".
