The giraffe of the bird world, I swear, with that long curving neck. He's very comfortable and feeling safe in the garden, illustrated by the fact that his neck is curled against his body. When they are alarmed or on guard they fully extend their necks to appear larger and to see further. I notice also that there's a green leaf positioned at the bottom of his folded wing, either stuck to him or you caught it in the act of falling. Since it's so similar to some of the background greens it almost looks like he has a hole through him. Cool what you find in photos you've taken.

This is an Australian Black Swan. They have been spread around the world by collectors and zoos. They are a beautiful bird and I sometimes see them flying over my house in a V formation with the white flashes on their wings accentuating their progress.
