The Highlight/Shadows adjustment step.. on it's own.. can also work towards correcting for some exposure/contrast issues.
Though, some experimentation when it comes to the slider controls/settings is key.. and not just that of accepting the default settings. Which, work well enough for the overall creative purposes of the tutorial.
And to be clear, the tutorial is for Photoshop.
