I found out why turkeys aren't considered bright. The path I was taking runs near a water treatment plant, which has a fence around it. I spotted this female turkey, which seemed determined to get to the other side of the fence, but it didn't know how. But there was this crazy photographer trying to get her picture, so she kept running along the fence. I figured that when we got to where the fence turned a corner, she would be gone, but no, just before the end of the fence, she suddenly dashed out onto the side walk to get an unobstructed start to a flight over the fence.

Her plight seems somewhat philosophical. How many of us have run into fences in life and stubbornly wanted to just push through somehow, rather than walk around?
