Spotted two yearlings yesterday. One tried to "hide" by putting its head behind the scraggly cedar that you see behind the deer. I shifted position and the deer thought I had moved on, but looked up in surprise when it realized I was still there.

People are like cameras--sometimes they lose focus.

Yes, she does have that Ferris Beuhler look to her, doesn't she? Your deliberate focussing, through that tall grass in front, is spot-on, Jeff. It's even more remarkable when you consider that today's digital cameras are not real manual focus-friendly, making us rely on our own eyes' ability to see the focus instead of the split-circle focussing that the old film cameras had, in the center of the view (unless you have some tip for it you'd like to share with us?). I used to be able to get perfectly focussed shots with those; digital focussing is a real challenge and you hit it perfectly. [Now have I used the words "focussed" and "focussing" enough in this comment?] ;oP As our Louisiana "mama" used to say, a real keeper, Jeff.

Well done Jeff. Great capture in its natural environment.

Life's moments are sweet. I just want to capture all that I can of them.

Terrific shot!! Deer have such graceful lines. Just look at that beautiful long neck and ears on full alert. You must have caught it by surprise and been quick to shoot ... the tail hasn't popped up yet.

I also love those tall, arching grasses over the deer. Makes for a great natural frame.

On a side note, are you going to photograph the eclipse, Jeff? Lucky you, it'll be crossing your home turf.
