There was a children's story that I used to read to my little ones decades ago when they were little about a turtle who wanted to up high because he believed he would be king of all he could see. Seeing these turtles reminded me of that story.

They do love their perches, hanging out in the sun. There's a couple hundred in a local lake that do the same thing.
