In one section of the lake, a few tires were purposely scattered to give hiding spots for young fish. One didn't stay down and the turtles have taken command of it.

Sorry, but I can't think of a suitable pun to match Richie's. I do like it, though, particularly because of your sharing the reason for the tire being in the water. That rather changes my thoughts about a few I've seen in a local lake.
