Coming around a bend, you realize there is a gap in the ledge you've been walking -- a gap far too large for even a rambunctious teenage boy to jump. But there is a ladder peeking above the edge.
Before I read your narrative I had a feeling the ladder was a point of egress for the trail. Other than steps of stone or concrete, a ladder is something I have yet to encounter on a trail. A very cool #2 in the series.
