One of the favored hikes that we take was dubbed "The Wild Hike." It involves fording rivers three times in a far less traveled section of the woods. This is the view of the second crossing.
It looks wild, alright. I'm guessing the ford is right there in the middle and the trail heads into the woods and up the hill? I can see a tiny bit of white water and a rock or two sticking up, so it must be pretty shallow, although it doesn't take much moving water to knock a person off their feet. There's always a little discussion and difference in fording; what do you use, Jeff? In the military I've had to hike in wet boots... very uncomfortable and hard on my feet. Some people will wear high-laced waterproof boots, some will replace their boots with water shoes, drying their feet on the other side. The depth of the shadows in there should make for some nice moody shots.
If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.
I usually wear river shoes and socks. The socks get wet, but they dry out quickly and feel good on hot days anyway. But I forgot to change shoes on this hike, so my hiking shoes ended up good and soaked.
