We are climbing back up but at a more gentle grade. We are walking along the base with a beautiful green forest off to the left and bends to keep us guessing what the next curve will show.
The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
Many of the Glacier National Park trails we hiked worked the same way--some parts steep,; others more casual--but all, like this one, with a lovely view. I notice the trees along the path edge are tall and thin. I believe that's because they are competing for sunlight because of their proximity to the rock wall. I have an ash tree in my backyard, out my window as I type, that is somewhat slanted because during its first 7 years of growth it grew slanted to get out from under a large American Elm tree that hijacked most of the sunlight. The Elm is long gone but the ash is still tilted.
