Still on my Red Death quest here - learning what to do to keep my red sensor from freaking out on me and what situations are likely to require extra care. These periwinkles were getting clear morning sunlight full in their faces, so I expected to have to underexpose a bit to keep the detail in the reddest parts of the petals at the risk of losing detail in the shadows and then bump it up in Lightroom. Um, no. This is the "unbracketed" shot. The meter was right on this time. While the image rates as a success at my level of skill, that I don't know WHY it worked is frustrating. Onward!

This Image GRABBED my EYE. That's Why I Stopped By. Thanks For Sharing ! Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience

So Gorgeous capture Leslie. Love the way you have such detail and clarity and the rest softened so they don't take away from this magnificent shot.

I see you are very conscious of the lighting and the metering and all that stuff. I am trying to learn more about it. I am very impatient, and hate standing there taking multiple shots of the same thing at different exposures. So most of the time I take my chances, and hope for the best. I love the detail in this and the blurred background. Super colors, also. Very nice.

Thanks, one and all, for having a look and being so encouraging.

Jim, I *try*. But I do myself in regularly by not checking my settings before I start clicking (esp. the dratted ISO) and by not bracketing shots or refocusing to get a little insurance on a shot. I just get carried away and forget myself. Until I upload. Bleh.

Red is such a difficult colour to capture at its truest and best way. But you certainly did it! It's gorgeous! The little pearly sparkles are just fantastic on that red too. A most precious photograph. Verena

Beautiful! Makes a wonderful DT too. I too like how you have caught the flower in the foreground and the blurred ones in the back ground. It justs makes the shot for me! Well done!
