f/13 @ 1/100s ISO 500. In life, I tend to watch the margins, the outliers, the exceptions. I was in this field before dawn, allegedly to shoot sunflowers my state plants to feed migratory birds. I did manage a sunflower or two, but of course I first had stumble around the edges of the field....

I love thistles myself. Sounds like something I'd do, start out to focus on sunflowers, but end up taking pictures of thistles. :)

Fine work here and a great choice in B&W. I like the budded one below in the photo too. Nice!

This shot has some interesting textures. The grass to the right I find a bit distracting from the thistle but all in all, they help balance the shot.
