A quick sketch of my teenage brother's lovely sunny face!...approx 3 hours. I wanted to practice with a darker style than usual and create something with more texture also...so for this I made a custom square brush which I am now totally in love with! Why oh why didn't I try this earlier? I foresee more of these stroppy sketches to come xx P.S. Apologies if the colors look an awful yellowy mess - my laptop screen is a nightmare!

Haha, yeah 3 hrs is surprisingly quick for me...I'm such a sloooow painter (prob because I spend more time daydreaming and eating chocolate than painting :P) xx

Serendipity steps in..
Given the resolution sizes available for my monitor, that of 450x666, 600x888 and 800x1185 ... when I took a look at the larger ones ... the 600x888 in particular suggested (to my eyes), a slight crop off of the bottom.
Literally, putting a tad more emphasis on the eyes and strengthening the overall composition. (In my humble opinion that is, and of course.)
Look forward to seeing more from you in this darker style.
And as always, thank you for sharing your creativity with us. :o)

Beautiful job, Hannah. You got him to sit still so long. That seems an accomplishment for any teen. You have the contours and nuances of his facial bones so well and the coloration seems perfectly fine to me. You have the lighting down too, coming in from the left. Really nice work.

A perfectly brooding look in his countenance. Be hard pressed to find any yellow in this. I had a monitor with the same problem, finally replaced it. A spectacular "painting" job, great use of light and shadow in the image.
