Quiet !...now this IS a nice surprise...you have always seemed the mystery woman what with your username and another Scorpio I believe?...this is a great shot and I love the b/w and brick background...a very 'thoughtful' composition gazing off from that lovely bridge...though your head is turned aside I can still see you're a real cutie...Rob is a lucky guy...so nice to have you join in our fun with self images...might we get a peek at your other half sometime?.:Pat.

This is a very nice picture, it does not look like a self portrait at all, well done both of you.

This is a great picture. It looks like the ideal spot to be reflective. Very nice, especially in black and white.

This is a superb self portrait, and works well in this medium. I'll have to satisfy myself, that the central subject placement, is as good as if it were cropped some, from the left, but the simplicity, yet powerful elements, are excellent.

This is a really beautiful image that inspired me to write poetry which I quickly erased. It's such a moody shot, suggesting sadness or anguish. You were probably just so absorbed in your thoughts that you weren't even aware Rob was taking the photo. I love the lines of the bridge rail and the snow-laden brickwork behind you. It's a perfect scene for black and white. Definitely in my faves and on my desktop. Thanks for sharing. anne :-)

Don't tell me it's good, tell me what is good about it. Don't tell me it stinks, tell me what I can do do improve it. Thank you for taking the time to tell me anything at all. Be blessed. anne :-)

It's an interesting thing about photography, how a mood can be conveyed by framing and expression, that has no real bearing on life. I liked this shot (humbly) both from the subject matter and location, both favorites!

I agree, Anne, that this shot conveys a mood. I enjoy hearing the interpretations. I have the benefit of knowing the day and the person and my goodness... does this picture lie well! *warm smile* Quiet is the antithesis of the feelings conveyed in the shot. Such is the joy of the lense.

I always thought that I'd commented on this particular photograph but see now, upon revisiting, that I hadn't and now, can't seem to properly string together into sentences the words that convey what I feel...

Just words: Quietude. Femininity. Depth.

And part of an old Shaker hymn that suddenly springs to mind:

"'Tis the gift to be simple,
'tis the gift to be free,
'tis the gift to come down where you ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
It will be in the valley of love and delight.

When true simplicity is gained,
To bow and to bend we shan't be ashamed.
To turn, turn will be our delight,
'Til by turning, turning we come round right."

Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand. ~Margery Williams The Velveteen Rabbit~

Wow, twig, that is a beautiful poem and describes this picture exactly. I like it because it is very reflective. Again, a great B&W shot
