(Plimoth Plantation) I wish I'd asked why the woodpile was piled as such, but my guess is that it best allowed the wood to season while in a configuration that withstood the gale force winds from the nearby sea. Once seasoned, portions of the wood would likely then be restacked into manageable piles next to the dwellings. For perspective, if you stood next to this pile, it would tower over you by at least another 4 feet.

A picture is worth a thousand words--that DOES NOT mean I will comment a thousand...It will be a Yay or Nay.

My goodness, the original settlers were artist's too, but with a purpose. They were very inventive. I've never seen this before. Thanks for presenting it. I've lived in Massachusetts for over 40 years and never gone to Plymouth. Maybe you have provided me a good reason with your wonderful photos.

Never rebuke while you’re still indignant about a fault committed—wait until the next day, or even longer. Then calmly, and with a purer intention, make your reprimand. You’ll gain more by a friendly word than by a three-hour quarrel. -Josemaria Escriva

Yup..that woodchuck could chuck all the wood he would chuck. (sorry, I could'nt resist!) Plus he did a fine job! Very interesting view of a unique subject. The woodpile is quite pleasing visually. Good clear image and lovely blue sky with the bit of pink. Thanks for the narrative too :))
