If this star fish seems red, it was! Shockingly so, in fact. My Rasta friend hauled it back from the ocean floor and surprised me with it. I have a movie of it walking on the sand, too, just before returning it to its home. It was about 8 inches in diameter, and very heavy, with a body about 2" thick. It's "shell" was hard, with hundreds of bumps and horns. I'd never seen one up close :)

What a totally awesome creature! How fortunate you captured his picture for all of us to enjoy! How beautiful he is in red. I'm wondering where his eyes are! LOL

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

I'm so glad you believe in catch and release. Such a beautiful creature, I'm glad he made it home to the sea. I've never seen one of these or any live starfish on the beach before. Wonderful photo, thanks so much for sharing.
