adding foreground view of tree, midground view of water and background view of far shore adds the depth I've been told is vital to all good photos. Way to go.
SUch a peaceful looking scene, I love how soft it looks.I love how that trees angles over the water, it takes the eye right to it. I like the way you took this picture, keep up the good work . verena
I grew up in St. Louis, which means the I spent a lot of time on or around the Mississippi river. Your image captures the rivers mood so well. The dark and drab day looks as if it was a bone chilling cold day. This is my memory of that wonderful river! Nice image.

Photography is not a trade - it is an art. It is more that an art.
It is a solar phenomenon,
where the artist collaborates with the sun.

This shot says, "Hazy Shade of Winter" all over it. I feel like fotobob - I like on the river, and I shoot many photos of it, but this one is unusually well composed, and strangely the grey sky compliments the dead grass and desolate tree quite well. Your use of the rule of thirds and your dynamic diagonal also push this image up to the top. Excellent job.
